Biography
Margaret was born in 1803. She was the daughter of John Todd and Alice Clow.

- Event Place: Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, England[1]
She married Edward Coppell on 4 March 1823 at Lamberton, Berwickshire, Scotland.
They went on to have eight children.
UK Census Event Date 1851: Living with her five children and her mother Alice Todd in Salisbury Street, Saint Anne Limehouse, Middlesex, England. Aged 47.
Occupation: Mariner's Wife
Her husband Edward was the Captain of Sailing ships. He died from bronchitis aboard his ship, off the coast of China in 1860.
UK Census Event Date 1861: Recorded in Canton Street, Poplar, Middlesex, England. Aged 57 and widowed. Also in the household was her 16 year old son William, 33 year old married daughter Alice Pearson with her two children Margaret and Mary, and her 16 year old niece Alice Martin.
Occupation: House Proprietor
Margaret and some members of her family emigrated from England to New Zealand where her son Edward had years earlier settled in the South Island. Margaret and family settled in Auckland in the North Island.
Her son James died in 1875 in Auckland.
She died in 1878 at the age of 76.

- On January 28th, at Mount-street, Margaret, relict of the late Captain Coppell, and mother of Mr. Coppell, engineer, aged 76 years.[2]
