Family tradition says that Epenetus HART and his wife Prudence Allison TODD settled on the farm belonging to Prudence's parents. An Isaiah TOD D registered ownership of "the north half of Section 8, Township 44, Rang e 1 west" on July 15, 1818 (Goodspeed, "History of Franklin Co.", p. 227) . On an 1878 map of Township 44 North, range 1 W. (part of St. John's Township), an E. HART is shown as owning 200 acres - the northern half of S ection 8. (Bell TODD owns land just to the north and the west of E. HART 's parcel.)
