Biography
Alson B Todd was born on Jan. 5, 1840 in New Haven, Connecticut, to Alfred Todd (1814 - 1882) and Hannah Venelia Harrison (1819 - 1897). He had 4 sisters and 2 brothers. On Nov 20, 1861 at the age of 21 he married Sophronia Nichols Towner (1837 – 1912 ). They had five children. When Alson turn 23 he volunteered for the Civil War and enlisted on July 1, 1863.Alson's family was living in New Haven, Connecticut in 1888 when a hurricane-force blizzard assaulted the area. Alson died at the old age of 72 (back then that was ever old). He died on Aug 23, 1912 one month and 23 days before his wife died.They are both laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut
