Biography

Samuel Todd, son of Samuel Todd and Mary (Bradley) Todd, was born 1 July 1672 in New Haven, Connecticut.[1][2] He was baptized 13 Dec 1685[2] with his then living siblings.

At a town meeting 28 April 1691, Samuel Todd, his father, was voted out of three men to be the official town miller and to grind the towns corn. At the time he asked the town if his son Samuel could run the mill should the senior Todd by necessity be absent.[3]

He married (1) 16 Sep 1698, in New Haven, Susanna [prob. d/o Joseph and Hannah (Munson) Tuttle / Tolle. She died Oct 10 1737 and he remarried (2) 10 Jun 1739 Esther, d/ John & Martha (Lathrop) Moss, who was the widow of Danield Maltby. She m. (3) ______ Frary.[2][1]

A land division was made in New Haven in 1704 and recorded in 1705. Samuel the father received 16 acres 84 rod of land. His son Samuel received 7+ acres. The elder Samuel received another grant of 11+ acres in 1713.[3]

Samuel was admitted to the First Congregational Church of New Haven in 1705 and dismissed to North Haven in 1718.[4][5]

Samuel was chosen a fence viewer of Muddy River field 20 Dec 1725 and in 1734 he was chosen Hayward.[3]

He was referred to as Deacon Samuel Tod in the probate records.[6]

He died 1742.[2] He is probably buried next to his wife Susanna in the Old Cemetery in North Haven, Connecticut[7]

Samuel's will was dated 7 Dec 1741 and presented in Court 4 Jan 1741/2. He named his wife Esther, mentioning an agreement they made before marriage. His children and grandchildren were named beneficiaries: sons, Stephen, Christopher, Samuel Tod; grandson Hezekiah Todd; Daughter Lydia Dolittle; granddaughters Phebe & Bathia Todd; daughters Mehitable Yale, Susannah Humistone; grand daughters Sarah & Mehitable Sackett. Stephen and Christopher were named executors. An inventory valued at £367.13.6 was taken and an addition was made later. [6]

Todd-1072 looks to have a few problems. Is it good strategy to merge it to get rid of it?

Todd-1072 and Todd-543 appear to represent the same person because: they appear to have the same birth and death date, and other vital information appear to be the same.
