Nathaniel (1679 1739) was born in Salem, worked as a cooper, repairing barrels and tubs, married Rebecca Tompkins, had five children and left his estate to his four sons, Nathaniel, John, Daniel and Samuel. An only daughter, Rebecca, was not mentioned in the will, most likely having died at a young age. If you follow Rebecca's Tompkins lineage out 14 generations to her ancestors in England, you will find that the Cantilupe Family is on her direct line ancestry. The Cantilupe's were a powerful family in the court of King John (1167-1216), holding numerous posts of influence and power.
