William was born about 1634/35, Bristol, Somerset, England [1]
William was born in England, the younger son of English gentry. Looking for adventure and opportunity he traveled to America when he was 20 years old. He had a reputation as a gambler and a "dude." Family folk lore hands down the story that he gambled on the ship, winning all the money aboard before arriving in Virginia.
He was indentured to a wealthy planter, David Williamson. Sometimes these kinds of arrangements were of convenience so that someone could gain some land rights.

William and Ann both died young (in 1675, ages 41 & 37), which leads us to believe there may have been some unusual circumstances. Both their wills were probated Jan 6, 1676, probably meaning that they died together. The Doegg Indians lived nearby and had killed many white settlers in the area in 1675 & 1676--being part of the cause of the Bacon Rebellion. It's likely that they were killed in one of these raids.

The de Toni's came from Normandy France. They are of Royal Bloodline serving to William the Great. The Toney's originally came from Norway. I have enclosed a link to our Viking bloodline. They then are found in Normandy France & Britian. William was a Servant to David Williamson at Jamestown River. William was also known as "The Gambler". He bought land inland & started a family in Buckingham Va. His descendants are found throughout. Family Interviews & Verbal histories confirm these findings. Some sources gives William’s father as Edward, and Others to Mark. All sources state that the family originally came from Normandy France and were Vikings.
