Mrs. Cora B. Sanford ~ The death occurred in Middleton on Saturday October 7th, of Mrs. Cora Beatrice Sanford, widow of Carmen Sanford, following a short illness. In good health up to her illness her passing came as a distinct shock to her family, relatives and friends Mrs. Sanford was born in Canning 78 years ago, daughter of the late William and Theresa Jane (Wood) Tooker. For many years she was a practical nurse and on retirement made her home with her daughter, Mrs. J.R. Parr where she passed away. She was a member of St. John's United Church. She is survived by a son, Moody Sanford, Wilmot, and three daughters, Theresa (Mrs. J.R. Parr), Margaret (Mrs. Warren Roop), both of Middleton, and Madelyn (Mrs. John A. Stewart), of Ailsa Craig, Ont; one brother Ralph Tooker, Annapolis Royal; half-brother, Charles Sanford, Lynn, Mass., and two half-sisters, Mrs. Bessie Slocomb, Milford, Mass. and Mrs. Clyde Spidle, Port George. Nine grandchildren also survive. Her husband predeceased her in 1921 and a daughter Lena in 1923. The largely attended funeral service was held from Warren T. Roop Funeral Home with Rev. Prescott H Burrill conducting the service. Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery at Lawrencetown. Pallbearers were G.A. Mosher, Albert North, D.I. Ross and Lee Curry. The many lovely flowers testified to the love and esteem in which the departed was held by all who knew her.
