Biography

Tavner was born in 1809. He is the son of John Toone and Rebecca Moore. He passed away in 1850. ^[1]

Research Note

There is a Tavner Toone and a Tavener Toone Jr in the 1820 US Census for Mecklenburg Virginia. Neither fits with an 1809 birthdate as that would be an independent residence at about age 11. Find a Grave has no memorial for a Tavner Toone yet.

According to the Tennessee probate record (Oct. 1851)^[2], Mrs. Mary Toone("mother of the minor heirs of Tavner Toone deceased")petitioned the court for Thomas/John (referred to by both names) Allison to be made legal gaurdian over five children, all under the age of 14. The Arkansas probate record (1860)^[3] is Tavner Toone Jr. requesting guardianship over his younger siblings. The siblings names are an exact match to those in the Madison Co. TN probate record, with the exception of Nancy. Based on these findings, it would appear that Tavner Toone, b. 1809 died before 1851, but in Madison Co. TN, not Arkansas. There is a potential marriage record of Tavner Sr.^[4] It would appear than the Toone family migrated to Prairie Co. AR ca. 1860.
