Research Notes
Charles’ Spouse and mother of his children
The original record for Charles’ Spouse: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wild-403 is considered to most likely be incorrect, an error possibly introduced by importing data from Ancestry.com which suggests Flavilla Bocking is the daughter of William Wild.
Evidence and source records indicating Flavilla Bocking is the correct person (or the correct name):
The Birth Registration records held by the GRO for the children of Charles and Flavilla Townsend all carry their Mother’s Maiden name as BOCKING.
The 1881 Census for Charles and Flavilla’s household includes Mary BOCKING aged 15 of Abney, Derbyshire, sister-in-law to Charles ie. Flavilla’s sister

A headstone in the Churchyard of St.Peters Church, Hope, Derbyshire carries inscriptions for William BOCKING, his wife Hannah (Morton), and daughter Adelaide - an additional inscription “reads Flavilla is interred at Eyam Church” - Eyam being the last known residence of Charles and Flavilla.[24]
