Note NI115Born on family farm L9C4 Howick, Huron County, Gorrie, Ont. Canada.
Physically, Alicia was short & stocky (slightly heavy).
A real Victorian lady - graceous - intelligent -- artistic -- liked to ba ke pastries & little sugar cookies -- kept a trunk full of her own baby c lothes -- long gowns with hand made lace yolks & edging, flannel three cor nered (triangular) diapers with buttons & buttonholes. Also childhood to ys -- a large doll with china face -- little tin kitchen/pantry cabinet (a bout 12 inches high) with tiny dishes. She left these and other person al possessions to her niece Gracie Townsend, who, unfortunately, kept no ne of them.
Alicia was a legal stenographer at London Ontario prior to her marriag e. She invested her earnings wisely and left an estate of over ,00 0. -- a sizeable sum for that place & time. It was divided mainly betwe en her husband & brothers, with lesser amounts to children of George.
From conversations with her niece, Gracie, it appeared Alicia was very clo se to her mother, & probably much like her in her talents and mannerism s. She also talked of a baby sister who died within a few weeks of birth.
Died of cancer of the reproductive system. Underwent radiation treatme nt at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario -- died at home in Gorrie.
