Not making any promises for the timeline, but this Hannah and her daughter Hannah Lawrence Grover are both on my research list for a trip to Monmouth County Historical Society research centre. I will add what I can when I have made that trip.

In the interim, I would like to cast my vote for leaving her last name unknown, She needs more documentation.

Thanks for telling us about your research intentions, BB. Here's hoping for success!

I agree that it looks like her LNAB should be Unknown. Indeed, we have no reliably sourced evidence for her. However, we do not have the option of "leaving her last name as Unknown" because her name is set as Townsend. To make her Unknown, we would have to change the LNAB, and then we might have to change it to something else after we get some evidence for her profile. Every LNAB change creates a disturbance in the database, so it's probably best to leave her as Townsend while we look for evidence....

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Way-487 go here to see that that the Hannah Townsend born 04 Apr 1641 is d/o William Townsend and Hannah Penn. Perhaps make this Hannah Townsend, b. 1637 (20 years when first child is born.

For all intents and purposes, this profile is Unsourced. From the profile for her husband, I get the impression that her first name and LNAB should be Unknown.

Rather than compounding the problem of an unsourced profile by making up different details, is there a member who has investigated this family and is brave enough to write up a profile that explicitly indicates what is and isn't known about her, and what evidence we have?

There was a Hannah Townsend, daughter of William and Hannah (Penn) Townsend, born in Boston 2-11-1641.

First Church records indicate that she was baptized in April 1641. Several sources indicate this Hannah married three times--none being William Lawrence-679 from Long Island. Also, this profile gives her b. 1641 and d. 1721 making her 80 at death; and still alive when William is documented marrying Elizabeth Scudder. These issues need to be addressed by the New Netherlands Team.

According to her husband’s profile she is Hannah Unknown. When two duplicate profiles were merged, one biography says he “married Hannah Townsend in England”.

Both profiles are open. If you can help improve either profile, Jim, you are welcome to do so. The only thing we can’t do without the project leader is change her LNAB to Unknown, but once more sources are added, that’s not likely to be an issue.

Hi Valerie,

I don't believe that William Townsend and Hannah (Penn) Townsend were the parents of this Hannah who married William Lawrence. According to Great Migration by R. C. Anderson, their daughter Hannah did not marry a man by that name.
