Biography

George Thompson Townsend and John, twin sons of William Townsend and Rebecca Sunderland were born on 1 October 1822 at Bringelly, and baptised at St John's in Parramatta on the 10th November 1822 by Samuel Marsden. [1]

He married Mary Mostyn on 22 August 1854 in St Matthews, Windsor, New South Wales, Australia[2] and they were the parents of Alfred Townsend, Eliza (Townsend) Rhynehart, Mary Jane Townsend, Maria Rebecca (Townsend) Mutton, Frances Ann Townsend, George Henry Townsend, John Townsend, Hannah Martha Ruth (Townsend) Jenkins, Richard Townsend and Edith Clara (Townsend) Dawe.

George passed away on 12 April 1897 at Pretty Plains near Orange, New South Wales, Australia. His cause of death was Chronic Bronchitis and Cerebral Hemorrhage[3][4]and was buried in the Millthorpe Cemetery, Millthorpe, New South Wales, Australia on 14 April 1897[5][6][7].
