Biography

Daniel was born in 1823. He is the son of John Travis and Mary Pond.

Daniel "Bushhead" TRAVIS (c1823 - 1889) had the following four (4) siblings:

(1) Sarah TRAVIS (1819 - after 1880) married c1838 - TN to William Carroll WHITLOCK (c1816 - 1863);

(2) Elisabeth TRAVIS (c1822 - after 1850);

(3) Mary Jane TRAVIS (1826 - c1906) married 26 Nov. 1847 - Cannon, TN to George Frederick MINGLE (c1826 - 1862) and

(4) Solomon Dee TRAVIS (1831 - 1892).

Daniel was married three times.

• Mary Tedder in 1842.^[1]
• Mary Vanhosser in 1853.^[2]
• Mary McMorris in 1871.^[3]

The 1850 US Census finds Daniel living in NIchols in Cannon County with wife Mary, two children and brother younger brother Solomon. ^[4]

The 1860 US census finds Daniel with wife Margaret and the following children:^[5]

• son SB - age 4
• son DD - age 2
• daughter R P - age 9/12
• daughter E J - age 15
• daughter - age Sarah 14
• son - JD - age 10

The 1870 US Census finds Daniel living with 8 children and no wife. His wife Mary Summar is presumed to have passed just before the census as one of the children is one year old.^[6]

The 1880 US Census has Daniel living with his wife Mary P and eight children.^[7] He died in Cannon County in 1881. ^[8]

Daniel was born in 1823. He passed away in 1889.
