David Trotter was born circa 1755, in Augusta county, Virginia, and served as an officer during the American Revolutionary War. David is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as Ancestor # A116143. According to their records, David's wife's name was Mary Givens. Application for membership in the Society has been made by the descendants of their son, James, who married Elizabeth Winchester. [1]
Lieutenant David Trotter died in 1802, in the New Madrid District of the Missouri Territory. Missouri became a state August 10, 1821, at which time Scott County was established. David is buried in the Sikeston City Cemetery, in Scott county, Missouri.
