Elkins, Sh??? Elkins, and Wm. Horton.
In 1820 Sterling "Harton's" household had grown to include 2 white males under 10, 1 white male 10-15, 2 white males 26-44, 1 white female under 10, 1 white female 10-15, 1 white female 16-25, and 1 white female 26-44, along with 9 enslaved persons.[2]
In 1824 Sterling Horton filed a plat for 184.5 acres on Little Lynches Creek, Lancaster County, adjacent James Truesdale (family of his wife).[3]
In 1830 the Hortons are again in Lancaster County, with 1 white male under 55, 1 white male 5-9, 1 white male 15-19, 1 white male 50-59, 1 white female under 5, 2 white females 10-14, 1 white female 15-19, 1 white female 40-49. and 11 enslaved persons.[4]
Sterling and Mary Horton moved to Crawford, Georgia, where Sterling died in 1836.
After 1830 and before his death in 1836, Sterling and Mary moved to Crawford County, GA.
In 1840 Mary "Hortan" was listed in Captain Bradford's District, Crawford County, GA, property tax digest.[5]
In 1845 Mary "Harton" was listed in Captain Car's District, Crawford County.[6]
She died 16 Nov 1848, having survived Sterling Horton by 12 years.[7]
