Biography
Clarissa was born in 1816. Her birthdate comes from her FindaGrave memorial. She was the daughter of David Tryon and Densey Stevens. Her relationship to David Tryon is confirmed by the newspaper announcement of her wedding.
She was married to Joseph White Hale in Glastonbury, Connecticut on February 17, 1841 by the Rev. William B. Ashley.[1][2] The family removed to Wirt County, Virginia (as it then was -- after 1863 it is in West Virginia) by the time of the 1860 census.[3]. They appear there in the census of 1880.[4]
Clarissa's sister Emmeline (Tryon) Bidwell and brother-in-law Leonard Benton Bidwell also moved their family to Wirt County, and the two brothers-in-law operated a business together in Newark in Wirt County.
She passed away in 1892.[5]
Clarissa is mentioned in the administration papers of both her brothers, Anson and Frank, though she was deceased by the time Frank's estate was probated and her children are listed.
