Amos was born in 1736, the son of David Tryon and Susanna Blevin.[1] He married Mary Hubbard in 1772.[2]He passed away in 1790.[3][4] He is buried beside his wife at the Old Farm Hill Cemetery, Middletown, Connecticut.
He is referred to as Captain Amos Tryon in many records such as "Genealogical and Family History of the State of Connecticut: edited by William Richard Cutter, Edward Henry Clement, Samuel Hart, Mary Kingsbury Talcott, Frederick Bostwick, Ezra S. Stearns" and "Rosman Lawrence family : embracing the descendants, as far as known, of Rosman Lawrence of Middletown, Connecticut"
Amos Tryon, Middletown, 1790, names Susanna Wetherly of Chatham, niece, Amos Tryon s. David Tryon, nephew, Mary wife, Stephen brother & executor, Enoch his son and Luentia(?) daughter. Codicil also names William Tryon and his wife, Catherine. [5]
