Biography

Voter Registration Lists in California show he was resident there from 1867 to 1888 at least.[1][2]

Research problem

When and where did Albert die and where is he buried? The biographical sketch in Davis's Illustrated History of Sacramento County says that Albert was a great traveller, and at the time of writing (1889?) was about to undertake a trip to Mexico. Did he die in Mexico or perhaps later, on some other trip? The brief death notice in the Record-Union implies he died in Sacramento.

Discussion

Albert's grave marker indicates birth in 1824 rather than 1825, and death on March 21, 1890. FInd-a-Grave data may be incorrect as to birth and death location, etc., however, it seems clear at the least that he was buried in Sacramento, California. There is an inscription on the headstone "Native of ... " which is interpreted as Matheson (Canada), but it is very hard to make out in this image. It could well be "CONN" for Connecticut which would follow the same form as his wife's marker "Native of TENN".

Death Notice

Sacramento, March 21—Albert G. Tryon, a native of Middletown, Conn. 65 years 1 month and 17 days. (San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner please copy.)[3]
