Biography
Elizabeth is the daughter of Matthew Tryon and Mary Weld. She appears in the 1850 census with her widowed mother and two younger brothers.
Her mother's 1855 will says she is "of the State of California". The will was not proved until after her mother's death in 1872, but there is no indication in the records that Elizabeth had left California or was known by another name (i.e. married name).
