Biography

He is the son of Joseph Tryon. Some trees say his mother was Lydia Bird but the record of his father's marriage gives no last name for Lydia and states she was of Glasinbury (Glatsonbury). The only Lydia Bird of the time was not of Glastonbury and is supposed to have died before the marriage date. It is possible there was another Lydia Bird but none has been found and only "Tryon Family in America", which is undocumented, refers to her.

Benjamin Tryon "of Wethersfield" was married to Luce Whedon of Branford, in Branford, New Haven, Connecticut April 25, 1738 by Rev. Philemon Robbins.[1]

From Tryon Family in America

BENJAMIN TRYON 3.1f, second son of Dr. Joseph Tryon 2.1a and Lydia (Bird) Tryon, was born at Glastonbury, Conn., no birth date found. His father deeded him land in 1737. He married Luce Wedon, of Branford, Conn., Apr. 25, 1738, by Rev. Philemon Robbins. They had five [sic, six] children:

Agnes 4.6a,
Hannah 4.6b,
Mary 4.6c,
Samuel 4.6d,
Benjamin 4.6e., second son of Benjamin Tryon 3.1f and Luce (Whedon) Tryon, was born at Glastonbury, Conn., Oct. 10, 1749[2]
Eunice, verified by entry of her birth in Connecticut records, but not included in Tryon Family in America.

We find no record of Mary but Rhoda (Tryon) Lamb (abt.1740-) is very likely a daughter. She married in Glastonbury at about the same time as Agnes. Rhoda and Mary may be the same person.

Research Notes

See notes on his wife's profile. She appears to have remarried June 8, 1750 so Benjamin probably died between Benjamin Jr's conception, Jan 1749, and Jun 1750.

Some researches set Benjamin's birth year as circa 1705. His marriage record says "of Wethersfield" while TFA says Glastonbury for birth location. There is no record of his birth.

It is possible that Eunice and Agnes are the same daughter.

A Benjamin born about this time is often linked to William Tryon and his second wife, Saint Robinson Lattimer Tryon. However, there is no mention of a child Benjamin in any documents relating to either person. Land owned by Saint Robinson Lattimer Tryon was divided between the heirs of her son from her first marriage (Jonathan Lattimer), her daughter (Bathsheba Lattimer Atwood) and her son Abial Tryon in 1711. As there were a number of court cases surrounding the estates of Bazaleel Lattimer and Saint Tryon, it is highly unlikely a son would have been excluded or forgotten.

Tryon-11 and Tryon-10 appear to represent the same person because: We're merging Tryon-11 out of existence. There is no evidence such a person ever existed.

Yes, let's get rid of him. I think you can't delete a profile (I'm almost certainly wrong on that but I couldn't find how to do it), but he can effectively be deleted by a merge in which only the other party to the merge "emerges" (if you see what I mean).

I also can't find anything regarding this person other than inclusion in rare, random family trees with no documentation. If he was a son of Saint Robinson Lattimer she would have been 53 years old at his birth. Can we eliminate this person? It looks like there were earlier attempts to merge this person out of existence that failed. If we use Tryon-10 and we all agree (Laurie, Michael and Michael) we can do this.

Recommending merge to effectively delete this person, for which I can find no documentation whatever. If a Benjamin of this description is ever found he can be added anew.
