Samuel John was the only child of Samuel Tryon and Susan Harvey to survive childhood. He became the 4th Baronet, succeeding his unmarried half-brother, Samuel Tryon, the 3rd Baronet. He was one of five children of his mother, but the others, John, Moses, Susan, and Anne, all died young. He married Mary Bownds, daughter of Robert Bownds, a draper of Chelmsford in Essex. They had two daughters, Mary, who married Thomas Davy, gentleman of Shipdam, Norfolk, and Susan in 1693 [1]. With Samuel John's death the Tryon baronetcy became extinct.
