Confusion: there is a 4 month old named William in the 1860 census, but missing from the 1870 census. According to the web site http://www.woodwaugh.com William was born as given above. The names of the Tryon children appearing in the 1850 and 1860 censuses are very mixed up and other sources are needed to keep the family straight. According to the woodwaugh site, he married Eva M. Pulsipher or Pulsifer before Jun 1880 at New York.
Research Question
Could he be the same person as Willmuth Tryon? Records of Willmuth go up to 1870 after which he 'disappears' from the record. Records for William begin in 1880. William's birth date is late in 1851, Willmuth's is unspecified 1852. It is possible that Willmuth began using the name William.
