Charles was born in 1842. He is the son of Henry Tryon and Mary Stevens.
He served as corporal in Company B of the 22nd Connecticut Infantry Regiment, which was organized September 22, 1862 and recruited from Hartford County, Connecticut. This regiment formed part of the Army of the Potomac that was assigned to the defense of Washington and other areas near the capitol in Virginia. the Twenty-second embarked for home June 26th 1863, arrived at Hartford June 29th, and was mustered out July 7, 1863.
By 1870 he had married Mary A. Hills and they had a son Henry R. of whom few further records can be found for him and Henry is not mentioned in his grandfather's will.
There are no further records of Charles until he was mentioned in his father's 1897 will, but he did not live long enough to inherit the bequest made to him, which would only come to him after his step-mother's decease.
He died in Boston of a cerebral haemorrhage and was listed as single on his death certificate, his wife Mary having died in 1891.
