Howard was the second child and second son of Micajah Tryon and Isadora Rice.
He married (1) Georgetta L. Burnap on 28 Jun 1893 in Stockholm, New York.[1]
In 1917 he was living in Bethel, Connecticut.[2] Aged 53, he suffered from prostate trouble and rheumatism, could not handle any kind of boat, ride a horse or drive a car but could "handle a team" of horses.
He married (2) Martha Hall Mahon on 2 Oct 1942 in Orange County, Florida.[3]
He died in 1945 in Orange County, Florida.[4]
Winthrop friends received word Monday of the death of Howard I. Tryon, 80, March 8, at his home in Winter Park, Florida, where he had resided for several years. Mr. Tryon was born in Stockholm (Brookdale) and was the last of five children of the late Micajah and Dora Rice Tryon. Three brothers and a sister have passed away, Alfred Tryon in Burlington, Vt., 1928; Bert Tryon, Helena, 1935; Clement D. Tryon, Winthrop, May 20, 1939, and Mrs. John (Della) Alexander, a number of years ago in New Rochelle. The family lived in Winthrop for many years. Mr. Tryon was graduated from Potsdam State Normal School in 1888, and received his degrees at New York City Teachers College. He was principal at North Lawrence high school, also for several years in the Daniel Webster and Lincoln schools in New Rochelle and in Katonah, N. Y. for some time, where he and Mrs. Tryon lived for several years before going to Florida.
In 1906, he was president of the Westchester Teachers Association. He retired in 1932 after teaching for 45 years. Mr. Tryon was twice married. His first wife, Miss Etta Burnap, daughter of Newton and Elizabeth Cooke Burnap, of Winthrop, whom he married in 1893, passed away in Winter Park, Fla., Jan 30, 1942, a little son, Paul, died in infancy, a daughter, Miss Helen Tryon is a teacher in New Rochelle. In October, 1942 Mr. Tryon married Mrs. Martha Hall Mahon, R. N. of Winter Park. Surviving besides his wife and daughter are many nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Clement (Sadie) Tryon of Brookdale.[5]
