Biography

Phebe Tryon was born on 10 Apr 1822 in Murray, New York. She married Brewster Harris Pomeroy on 8 Nov 1843 in Litchfield, Medina, Ohio. Children: Mariann (Marion Alcina), Erastus Valentine, David Harris, Alvina, Parkhurst Alvimer, Mary, Lee Wilson, Emma Helen Jane. She died on 18 Jul 1881 in Winona, Minnesota.

Further research is needed to identify Phebe Tryon's parents. They cannot be Leonard Tryon and Maria Stocking as they were never in Connecticut. Both Leonard Tryon Tryon-1126 and Amos Tryon Tryon-4776 (Cousins that married Stocking sisters) appear consistently in Connecticut records.

According to this profile of Phoebe Tryon Pomeroy, Maria Stocking was her mother and Leonard Tryon her father, but Phoebe was born in Orleans Co., NY. I think this parentage is somewhat unlikely given that Leonard and Maria married in 1821 and are otherwise always present in Connecticut. A first cousin of Leonard Tryon's married a Hannah Stocking (who was probably Maria Stocking's sister:

Amos Tryon-4776

Hannah Stocking-673
