Glenn Tryon (August 2, 1898 – April 18, 1970) was an American film actor, screenwriter, director and producer. He appeared in 67 films between 1923 and 1951.

Glenn was born in Juliaetta, Idaho, son of Albert Kunkel and Grace Harriet Perkins, and he later selected Tryon as a stage name.[1]
Glenn married to actress Jane Frazee from 1942 to 1947. They had one son,

According to two trees on ancestry there may indeed be a connection. Michael's tree gives as father of Maria Christiana Kunckel, wife of George Washington Tryon, a Johann Christian Kunckel, b. 15 JUN 1746 Florsbach, Gelnhausen, Hesse, Germany. He came to Philadelphia in the late 1760s. Another undocumented tree gives Johann Heinrich Kunkel b. 15 MAR 1751 Florsbach, Gelnhausen, Hessen, Germany, as great grandfather of Glenn Monroe Kunkel. He was in York county, Pennsylvania by 1783.
That is an interesting development. I wonder if there remains a connection to Tryons? That is - I wonder if he chose this stage name for a specific familial connection. There is a Kunckel/Tryon connection in Pennsylvania. (His grandfather appears to be from Pennsylvania.)
