Text of Will

In the name of God, Amen.
I, Smith W. Tryon of the City of Brooklyn, Kings County, New York being of sound and disposing mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this life, do make, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament as follows:
First: After my lawful debts are paid I give, devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Maria M. Tryon, in lieu of dower, an equal one half of all the estate or property, both real and personal, of which I may be seized or possessed at the time of my death, absolutely, to have, hold and enjoy the same for her own use and benefit, and that of her heirs and assigns forever.
Second: I give devise and bequeath the remaining one half of my estate or property, both real and personal, to my three children, Elisha Tryon, Emmeline L. Abrahams wife of Whitehead Abrahams and Robert M. Tryon, to be divided between them equally, share and share alike, and in case any of these, my children, should die before myself, then, and in such case, I direct that the share of such child, shall be paid to his or her lawful children.
Third: I direct that for the purpose of distributing my property as I hereby, in this my last will direct, that my executors hereinafter named, have full power to sell, or otherwise dispose of, all, or any part, of my property both real and personal for the purpose of such distribution.
Fourth: It is my will and direction, that in the distribution of my property, my son Elisha Tryon be permitted, if he so elect, to purchase from my executors, my lot of land known as No. 113 North Elliot Place in the City of Brooklyn, with the buildings thereon erected at the cost of Eight thousand nine hundred dollars, and that said purchase money be divided as hereinbefore directed, one half to my beloved wife, and the other half to my aforesaid three children or their heirs.
I hereby appoint my friend Anton W. Miller of the City of New York, and my son Robert M. Tryon to be Executors of this my last Will and Testament: hereby revoking all former Wills by me made and executed.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, the Twenty ninth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred aand eighty two.

Also NOTE: Smith Tryon's friend and executor, Anton W. Miller, was the business partner, friend, and also one of the executors of the estate of Smith's brother Samuel Tryon.

If Smith's middle name was Weed, this would answer several questions, as John Tryon Sr's wife was definitely named Mary or Maria Weed.
