Jane was born in 1849, youngest daughter of Peter Tryon and Sarah Stevens. She married Hiram Williams, from Wales, in 1867 and they had six children. She died in 1876.
Research Notes
Legend has it that she married on her deathbed. She married 7 Nov 1867. Her FindAGrave death date is 7 Nov 1876, remarkably similar. The obituary of her father, Peter, states that she died 16 years before he did (1892) which would be 1876. 1870 census for Hiram Williams has wife Jane Tryon, and two daughters 2 mos. and 2 years. Hiram remarried in 1879 and it was noted as his second marriage. The 1880 census record for Hiram shows the new wife and six children born between 1868 and 1876. Lastly all the marriage records of the children name "Jane Tryon" as mother. The legend appears false.
