Biography

1776 Project
George Tubb performed Patriotic Service in North Carolina in the American Revolution.
Daughters of the American Revolution
George Tubb is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A116542.
The Tubb Connection:
George and Mary lived in Orange County, North Carolina, before 1790 they moved to Greenville, South Carolina, settling near the present day town of Travelers Rest. A mountain near this town is named "Tubbs Mountain" and a road that passes around the mountain is called "Tubb Mountain Road." According to a reported historical reference this mountain and road were named for George Tubb. Shortly before The Revolution they moved to Tyron County, (now Rutherford County) North Carolina.
George and Mary may have been married in Orange County, North Carolina. Some sources say Mary was a Turner before she married George, but we have no proof yea or nay. Mary may have died before 1800; the census index has a female over 45 in the household. George and Mary lived in Orange County, North Carolina prior to the American Revolution, but shortly before the Revolution they moved to Tryon County, (now Rutherford County) North Carolina in 1761.
George Tubb furnished horses for the Revolutionary Troops. A pension was recorded in 1800, No. 6765 for George Tubb. At a meeting of the head of Enore Church in November 1799, a report of the constitution of Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Pendleton County, South Carolina entered the Bethel Association, one of the delegates being George Tubb. The Tabor and Tubb families organized the Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Oconee County, formerly Pendleton District.

1790 Ninety-Six District, Greenville County, South Carolinia

When Susannah was born (per Susannah's application for William Tabor's Revolutionary War pension), George bought 195 acres from John Stanford on the First Little Broad River in Tryon County, North Carolina; witnessed by William Capshaw, Abraham Hargis and John Fisher. (Book unknown page 50-51; July 25, 1774.) George and Mary sold this land to William Graham of Lincoln County, North Carolina; witnessed by Morris Roberts and William Mc?; Book ?; Page 411, November 14, 1784.
George could not write; he made his mark as an " X " on official documents.  :They moved with their daughter Susannah Tabor and other members of the Tabor family. They appeared in the census records for South Carolina, Pendleton District and Old 96 District. At the bottom of "Tubb Mountain," (now northern part of Greenville County, South Carolina) where it is believed that some of the older family members died.

Parents

Family tradition states that George and William were brothers, that their father disappeared, their mother remarried and they were bound out. Note this is all by tradition only, there is no indication of names for either of these parents. They are represented on Wikitree by Unknown Tubbs & his wife Unknown Unknown.

Modern internet efforts to identify parents have created a father, John Tubb, born about 1675 in England, and a mother, Rebecca Capshaw, born about 1700. At this point John and Rebecca are loose conglomerations of facts that don't fit together. There is no proof or evidence that they are actually the parents of George and William, nor is there actual proof that George and William are even brothers.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with George by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with George:

Yes they are, this is why all of us should Collaborate..

All names of possible, should be added, Yes this gives multiple, but, all should be present, until such time that one is eliminated, or, proven true.. This will give others the opportunity to research to assist.. Family Tradition, has been, John and Rebecca.. However, other research has shown a Unk. Tubb, and Mary Unk... another, William Tubbs said the same for his brother William.. Please see G2G discussion. William Tubb being our line... Many records were lost in both the War of American Independence, and in the War of Northern Aggression Not to mention various fires in Court Houses, and Federal storage facilities.. making it harder for us to find the needed information.. Because of the controversy of several parents, is why we al should collaborate.

The parents of George Tubb are disputed. See the discussion on Tubb-62, which is a duplicate of Tubb-562 and needs to be merged.

Tubb-562 and Tubb-62 appear to represent the same person because: duplicate

Tubb-562 and Tubb-62 are not ready to be merged because: Two different Wives...

maybe he married twice, maybe the lines have been merged somewhere in the research..

I merged, but we come back to the same problem of George's parents.. many do not want to list John and Rebecca, because they did not link them..

This is why Anne B demerged her version of William Tubb from mine, not wanting to accept that her research may be wrong, Personally, I think they all should be listed until such time as a parent is proven to be, or not to be... to quote a William Shakespeare I welcome all Input, but will not drop person's just because another could not find links, or another believe they found links to another parent, without proof.. all should be added..

I do not believe that the currently attached parents Tubb-61 and Capshaw-21 are a correct representation of our current knowledge of George and Williams father. They are instead a conglomerate of Speculation. I believe that the parents should instead be Tubbs-311 and Unknown-224706. Are there objections to making this change?

we talked about this before...

If you have definitive proof, then I will remove Rebecca But without definitive proof, it stays I told you before.. All possibilities should be posted, giving information that others can search on..

Tubb-267 and Tubb-62 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents - same birth state. The only holdup is the different birth county. The alternate county can be placed in the Biography space. Please merge so the descendants can be merged.
Tubb-267 and Tubb-62 are not ready to be merged because: these might be 2 separate people, one married to Mary Tabor and the other married to Mary Turner

Tubbs-310 and Tubb-62 appear to represent the same person because: Same person, same parents, same spouse, same children.
