William Tucker was born 28 May 1737 in Preston, Connecticut, the youngest of five children of Deacon Steven Tucker (1691-1768) and Hannah Belcher (1695-1745). His mother died while he was still a child. He married Esther Morgan (1744-1818), daughter of Capt. Danial Morgan (1712-1773) and Elizabeth Gates (1713-1793) of Preston, on 4 Jun 1767. William and Esther had six children over the period 1768 to 1782. He died 5 Nov. 1819 in Preston, and was buried in Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold, Connecticut. (Griswold originally formed the northeastern part of Preston, Connecticut, but was separated from that town in 1815.) *********
