How are things going? A couple of tips for you as you add to your tree. If you find a duplicate profile, and complete a merge, all the information from one merge is copied into the new combined profile. Please go in and edit the Biography section and put information under the correct headers and removed "duplicate" information.
Also, don't create "unknown" profiles. If you don't have a last or first name, note the related information in the related profile's biography section until additional information is found.
If you don't have a date or place of birth, at least try and estimate that information and note that it is an estimate in the Bio section.
And lastly, source as you go, because if you're like me, you won't remember where you found the info. Nae
PS Your GEDCOM report is ready. Go to your contributions, select the link where you uploaded it. Step 2 has a link for you to review the report. If you need help, let me know! Nae
Hi! How are things going? Do you have any questions? Two week member!
As you go farther back in your tree, it is a good idea to do a search first to see if you have a match already created on Wiki Tree before creating a new profile. And keep in mind, if you do find a match, odds are the manager is also related to that person and probably you!
There is a great question to review on G2G regarding duplicate profiles and merges. See: http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/51703/behind-merges-identifying-lowest-numbered-profile-correct
A great place to ask specific question is on G2G. Under My Wiki Tree (on of the links at top right) select G2G PROFILE. You can browse/ask/answer questions. You can also "tag" them by topic.
