William Tull was born in Folkestone, Kent, England.

William Stephen Palmer Tull was born in 1882 in Folkestone, Kent, England to parents Daniel Tull and Alice Elizabeth Palmer. His birth was registered in the Jun Qtr 1882 in Elham R.D., Kent. [1] His mother's maiden name was Palmer. [2] [3]

He married Gertrude Mary Boxer in 1903 in Folkestone, Kent, England. [4]

Children: Doris Gertrude, Mildred Evelyn, Gladys Muriel, Frederick Charles, Winifred Alice.

He died of tuberculosis on 12 Mar 1920. [5]

"William, a serviceman in the Great War, died from the effects of gas poisoning, age 37 years, on 12 Mar 1920 at 59, Grenfield Road, Folkestone" and was buried 16 Mar 1920 at Cheriton Road Cemetery, Folkestone, Kent. "Died age 37 years" is etched in his memorial stone. [6] [7] [8]

His brother Walter was a professional footballer with Tottenham Hutspurs and Northampton Town and was also an officer in the British Army. Their grandfather had been a slave on Barbados. William stayed at home with his stepmother and worked, but his siblings were taken to an orphanage when his parents died.
