Would like to know who his father is, with proof. I would also like to know his mother's maiden name. I think she is Elizabeth Tull, daughter of Mary Tull, who was possibly a RUFF. Other history gives her name as NOBLE. There is no proof for either name.
In an interview with George Washington Tull, he gave his mother's name as RUFF, and in a Newspaper advertisement: Date: 1835-11-26; Paper: Georgia Telegraph, Legal Advertisement, the guardian of Mary Tull's illegitimate children was Allen Ruff.
Oral family history was Jasper Newton Tull was born near Jasper, Alabama (Walker County). The newspaper advertisement gives credence to this as it originated in Walker County, Alabama.
Walker County, Alabama is one of those counties that have lost its courthouse and local records several times. Records such as marriage, deeds, chancery, probate are not available for the 1835-1850 time frame.
Jasper is living with his wife and children in McNairy County, Tennessee in 1880. [3]
Jasper Newton Tull died on 9 May 1928 and is buried at Mt. Gilead Cemetery, in McNairy County, Tennessee.[4]
DNA
Jasper Newton and Frankie Morton Tull have a lot of descendants who have tested their autosomal DNA at various testing companies. I will not record any of them here due to privacy concerns.
One male descendant that I am aware of has tested his y-DNA at FTDNA. His results indicate that TULL is most likely not our original surname or there has been a non-parental event somewhere back in time. The surname CHRISTIAN is the most likely name based on the matches so far. It would be nice to have additional male-to-male descendants to test as well as male-to-male descendants of his brothers.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jasper by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jasper:
Jasper Newton Tull is my 2nd great-grandfather. I am always interesting in learning additional information about him and his family, especially his parents. I know his mother's name is Elizabeth. Who is his father? Documentation?
Thanks
