Biography

Elizabeth Tupper was born on 22 October 1722 in Sandwich, Barnstable County, (then) Province of Massachusetts Bay, the daughter of Samuel and Rebecca (Ellis) Tupper.[1] [2].

On October 10, 1745, she married her first cousin Benjamin Ellis, son of Josiah Ellis and Sarah Blackwell of Sandwich[3] [2], and their children included:

  1. Rebecca, baptized August 8, 1746, who died young[2]
  2. Philip, born about 1748, who died young[2]
  3. Philip, born October 16, 1750, who married Rebecca Perry[2]
  4. Rebecca, born September 1752 and baptized October 29, 1752, who married Stephen Tobey, son of Silas Tobey and Mary Dillingham [2]
  5. Micah, born Jan 10, 1755, who married Mary Copeland and then Elizabeth Parker[2]
  6. Benjamin, baptized April 24, 1757, who married Susanna Hoxie[2]
  7. Mordecai, born June 19, 1759,who married Lydia Swift[2]
  8. Phebe, baptized August 31, 1764, who died unmarried in 1796[2]
  9. Heman, born July 5, 1766[2]

Elizabeth (Tupper) Ellis died after May 12, 1772, when she was noted in her father's will as Elizabeth Ellis[2]
