Thankful Tupper was born on 23 January 1740/1 in Sandwich, Barnstable County, (then) Province of Massachusetts Bay, the daughter of Samuel and Rebecca (Ellis) Tupper.[1] Thankful married Nathaniel Phinney on 13 January 1763 in Sandwich. They resided in Machias, Maine.[2]
