Upton Bishop Church
In 1820 Mary's mother, Hannah married Joseph Webb and in 1822 they had a son William so Mary's half brother was born when she was ten years old. By the time of the 1841 census Mary was living away from home, at Little Dewhurst, which is about 10 miles from Upton Bishop. She was probably working as a servant in a large household.[2] Mary married John Porter at Kings Caple on May 11, 1843[3]
neither of them could sign at the time of their marriage.
