Biography

Simon Berry Turner was the son of James Matthew Turner and Nancy Matilda Turner. He was born on Mar 15 1887 in Anniston, Calhoun County, AL. He married Minnie Mitchell in Alabama in 1911. He was a farmer and a carpenter by trade. He died Dec 14 1967 in Talladega County, AL. Simon B. Turner, 81, of Munford Rt.2 died unexpectedly at 6:00 p.m. at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. at Gray-Brown Service chapel with the Rev. J.W. Phillips and the Rev. Oscar Cotton officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ligon Brown of Munford, Mrs. A.G. Turner of Oxford, Mrs. Donald C. Wood of Anniston and Mrs. Louise Mabry of New Orleans, La.; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Fagan of Anniston, Mrs. Fannie Waggoner and Miss Lucy Turner both of Heflin; two brothers J.D and L.B. Turner both of Heflin; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Albert J. Monroe and John D. McCormick and Melvin Earl Turner. Mr. Turner was a native of Cleburne Co.,and lived in Talladega for the past seven years. He was a retired farmer and carpenter.
