Biography

William Turner was born 17th November, 1768, possibly in Bute county North Carolina. William was the son of Stephen Turner Sr. and Susanna Hamner.

William is left bequest in the will of his father Stephen Turner Sr., and is named as one of the Executors to his father's will which was proved in court in November 1799 in Warren county, North Carolina.[1]

William married Frances Dodson (daughter of William Dodson and Frances Gilliam) on the 30th of December 1791 in Granville County, North Carolina.[2]

William died sometime before the 21st of December 1811 in Wilson county, Tennessee. The Inventory of William's estate was recorded in the probate records of Wilson county, Tennessee: "State of Tennessee Wilson County} December 21st 1811 A just and true Inventory of the estate of William Turner dec'd . . ." contains a list of land, slaves, farm animals, farm equipment, household furniture, notes and bonds.[3]
