Robert was born in 1811. Robert Turner married Lucy Tyrus Green in 1828 at Saluda, 96th District, South Carolina. He passed away in 1853.
According to Find A Grave contributor macw: "Robert succumbed to a plague of Black Measles. Court records indicate he and four of his children died near the same time. Marcus, Mathenia, Clousy and Asa. Burial on the family farm at the time of death - Family farm, Calhoun County, Arkansas sec 25 t11s r13w" (TURNER ROBERT R Section 25, Township 11 South, Range 13 West, Fifth Principal Meridian, Federal Land Grant November 1, 1852, Calhoun County, Arkansas).[1]

Rocky Mountain spotted fever, earlier called "black measles" because of its characteristic rash, was recognized in the early 1800s.[2]
