Disambiguation: The John Turner who came from Leiden, Holland on the ship Mayflower in 1620 to Plymouth, New England, and died that winter, along with two sons, is not claimed to be the same person as this John Turner, husband of Joan (Lily) and father of Humphrey Turner. [1] Please do not merge! Charles Robert Anderson does not link the John Turner who arrived on the Mayflower in 1620 and died at Plymouth in 1621, to a son named Humphrey Turner. [1]

Speculative Family of John Turner

Parents: John Turner I (1538 – 1563) & Elizabeth (1532 – 1584).
Spouse: Joan Lilly (1571 – 1610).
Children:
John Turner - baptized at Terling, Essex between 1579 and 1594

John and Joan (Lilly) Turner are possibly the parents of Humphrey Turner, who immigrated to Plymouth Colony in 1632, and removed to Scituate in 1634. [2] Author Vernon Dow Turner writes that John and Joan (Lily) Turner, living in Terling, Essex, England had seven children baptized at Terling between 1579 and 1594, and that four of them (John, Joseph, Nathaniel and Thomas) had names also given to the children of Humphrey and Lydia (Gaymer) Turner (see list above). [2] Terling was the baptismal place for Lydia Gaymer, wife of Humphrey Turner, and the baptismal place for Humphrey Turner's eldest son John Turner. [2]

Are there any sources more recent than the NEHGR 1997 article Lydia Gaymer, the Wife of Humphrey Turner of Scituate], by Vernon Dow Turner, which throw light on the family of John Turner or his origins?

Scituate was founded about 1627 by a group of people from Plymouth, according to Wikipedia.

This death date and location probably belongs to the OTHER John Turner, from the Mayflower. Did this John Turner actually emigrate from England, or did he die in England? If son Humphrey didn't emigrate until 1632, as stated by Robert Charles Anderson in Great Migration, it might be logical that his father John, a widower by then, would still be in England in 1632 also (if he was still living). Since there does not seem to be any evidence that Humphrey Turner's father John accompanied him to Plymouth, might it be that John Turner died in England before 1632?

Could we clean up this death date and location, which seems to belong to a different profile?

Turner-13651 and Turner-9088 appear to represent the same person because: they are clear duplicates. Please see the sources and footnotes on Turner-13651 for evidence. thank you, April Dauenhauer
We need a source that links the John Turner who died at Plymouth in 1621, to Humphrey Turner who immigrated in 1632. That Humphrey's father is named John is likely but where is the evidence he is the same John who died at Plymouth in 1621?
Turner-9088 and Turner-10280 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same wife, similar details
