Archive Canada No RCIA 233240 John William Lang Turner Family, 1867-

John William Lang Turner was born in Northumberland, England ca. 1867. He came to Canada in 1903 from Portsmouth, England as a Barr Colonist. Around 1905, Turner and his family went to Onion Lake, Saskatchewan, where he became a clerk to William Sibbald, the agent at the Onion Lake Agency of the federal Department of Indian Affairs. Turner succeeded Sibbald as agent around 1921 and held the position until 1930, when he retired and moved to Victoria, British Columbia. Turner died on September 23, 1939 in Oak Bay, a residential community in Victoria. Lang Turner and his wife had eight children: Mary (William Clark McCusker); Agnes (Steve Warren); Joy (? Boudreau); Lulu (Percy Taylor); Nellie (Wesley Trimble); Marjorie (A.H. Noyce); Lena (Leslie Gould) and one son who died in infancy. Mary Turner was born in Portsmouth, England in 1900 and married William Clark McCusker in Onion Lake in 1921. They had three children: William, Betty, and Robert. W.C. McCusker died in Saskatoon on August 25, 1970. Mary McCusker died in Saskatoon on September 19, 1993. William (Bill) McCusker died in Saskatoon on September 15, 2006.
