In 1961 James H. Porter, gg grandson of Thomasin Porter, applied for a military veteran headstone for "Thompson Porter" who was in the War of 1812 from KY. Location for headstone would be Gholson Cemetery, Broughton, IL. James gives Thompson's birthdate as 1791 and death date as 23 Nov 1840. See U.S., Headstone Applications for Military Veterans, 1925-1963 for Thompson Turner at Ancestry.com. Thomasin's name was spelled many ways on various records, including Thompson, Thomazin, Thomasen & Thomazen.
