Both list themselves and parents as born in Kentucky. Robert reports to be a farm laborer and they are renting the house they live in. Immediately before the in the census are his parents. Also on the same pages are members of the Burch, Mason, Matthews and Overton families, all families with ties to the Tuttle family.

The 82nd family in the census is the Robert L. Stone family with Robert L. (28), wife Josie (28) and children Annie G. (9), Amby E. (8), Marry B. (7) and Janie F. (1). The couple reports to have been married 10 years and all four of their children are still alive. The family is living on the farm they rent and Robert reports to be a general farmer.

Page 6B shows the Robert L. Stone family with father Robert L. (38), wife Josie (38) and children Frances (11), Dwight (8), Richard (4), Belva (4) and Edna (1). All report they and their parents were born in Kentucky. Robert reports to be a farmer.
1930 – Kentucky, Grayson, Short Creek, District 10, 24 Apr 1930
Sheet 1A shows the Lee Stone family with husband Lee (47), wife Josephine (47) and children Belva (14), Edra (9) and Nancy (6) living on the farm they rent for $5. The farm is located on the Cromwell and Cloversport Road. The couple reports they were both 18 when they wed. They still reports they and their parents were born in Kentucky and Joe is still a general farmer. Living next to them is son Richard Stone. Also living nearby is Smith Quertermous, the father-in-law of their 2nd daughter.
1940 – Kentucky, Grayson, Other, District 43-13, Short Creek, 26 Apr 1940
R. Lee Stone (58) and wife Josephine (57) are living with their daughter Nancy J. (16) as noted on page 9A of the census. They rent the farm for $3 which is on Falls of Rough and Spring Lick Road. Both R. Lee and Josephine report having an 8th grade education while daughter Nancy J. has completed 2 years of high school. They report they were living in the same place in 1935. R. Lee reports he is a farm boss who earned $600 the previous year and worked 60 hours a week.
