Ottie Pearl Twaddle, was born November 27, 1881 in Bethel Township, McDonough County, Illinois, the third child of George Washington Twaddle and Philena Dunn Stookey. Ottie's father died from typhoid fever when she was only 5. Their uncle, William H. Twaddle, became their legal guardian in 1890. In 1896, their brother-in-law, Charles Mullen, took guardianship.[1] Her and her brother, Jake, grew up together with their mother, Lena, and grandfather, Benjamin Stookey.
Ottie married Charles Franklin Stump in Quincy, Illinois on September 7, 1910.
Charles and Ottie had four children.
After the death of her husband, Ottie lived the remaining years of her life near her son Charles, in Bowen, Illinois. She died in Carthage Hospital in Carthage, Illinois on September 18, 1972. She is buried in Scott's Cemetery in McDonough County, Illinois.[2]
Mrs. Stump was born near Plymouth, November 27, 1881, a daughter of George and Philena Stookey Twaddle. She was a member of United Methodist Church. She married Charles Stump in 1910 in Quincy. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, Cecil of Peoria, Russell of Glasford, and Charles of Bowen; a brother, Jake Twaddle of Plymouth; 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. [3]
