Charles Tyler Birth: 1657 Branford, New Haven County, Connecticut, USA Death: 12 Sep 1738 (aged 80–81) Branford, New Haven County, Connecticut, USA Burial: Branford Center Cemetery, Branford, New Haven County, Connecticut, USA Memorial #: 145352577 Bio: "Four male Tylers were at Branford quite early: Charles, Peter, Francis and George by name: all probably brothers, the last three are known to have been. Charles, born at Branford in 1657, youngest of the four, had but one son who had issue, Bezaleel, a unique name. which has done excellent service in tracing some of his descendants. As the son moved early to Sharon, Conn., it might be called the Sharon line. Although not numerous prior to 1750, we may expect startling discoveries later on; for one, Bezaleel, Jr., is credited with having 22 children." ~Official Report of the First American Tyler Family Reunion held at North Andover, Mass. Charles Tyler is most likely buried in Center Cemetery. "In Branford, the original burying ground was adjacent to the first log meetinghouse. When a new meeting house was built on the Green in 1701... the old house was taken down. Its footprint has been free of tombstones ever since, save for an ancient millstone, given by F. Sherwood and Mary (Hitchcock) Boyd, as a memorial to those first settlers. Surrounding the memorial is more than three centuries of the history of the town and it’s a people. The place is Center Cemetery... Though most of the very early stones have fallen victims to the ravages of time and weather, one has been preserved from 1694... There are dozens of names whose families are still residents of Branford after 350 years including Rose, Harrison, Ward and Page; Linsley, Russell, Baldwin and Pond. There are Barkers, Frisbies, Bartholomews and Tylers. Who does not know of Blackstone, Hoadley, Plant and Palmer, all of whom gave the town its character and flavor, in their time? These are the people who populated our town in the days long past. All left their mark upon our town, and its mark which makes our town special." ~brandford-ct.gov Family Members Parents Roger Tyler 1615-1673 Ann Robert Eaton Tyler 1615-1712 Spouse Rebecca Potter Tyler 1663-1684 Siblings Peter Tyler 1645-1712 Francis Tyler 1651-1712 Children Bezaleel Tyler 1683-1760 Created by: Whispers (47982459) Added: 21 Apr 2015 URL: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/145352577/charles-tyler Citation: Find a Grave, database and images (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/145352577/charles-tyler : accessed 06 June 2022), memorial page for Charles Tyler (1657–12 Sep 1738), Find a Grave Memorial ID 145352577, citing Branford Center Cemetery, Branford, New Haven County, Connecticut, USA ; Maintained by Whispers (contributor 47982459) .
