Hi Karen. Are we sure about Elizabeth being the daughter of Franny and Ephraim? In the record of her death her father is given as John. This is possible (although the record is a bit of a mess), as there was a John Huffman living up on Jordan's creek around the time of her birth. (This is the Jordan's Creek up at Falling Rock, Big Sandy District, Elkview/Clendenin area.) The relationship between this elder John Huffman and the Huffmans of the Salines has not yet been established. There may be a very close relationship, we're just not sure. We have the same issue with the Price family; there are two of those as well, one at the Salines and one up on the Elk. These two families - the Prices and the Huffmans appear at at about the same time and have confused a generation of genealogists. A clear marker tying Elizabeth Huffman to Franny and Ephraim would be wonderful. There are still many possible children they may have had over the years who have not been positively identified. Elizabeth may, or may not, be one of them. Thanks!
I have nothing definitive but the only thing I had to go on is the census record of Ephraim that shows 1 daughter in the age range that Elizabeth would have been during that time. I think she was 18. By the following census, she was married. I did not check the other siblings to see if any other daughters may have been born in that same age range. For all we know, Ephraim's middle name may have been John and he may have gone by that name. I am not sure. I went by the FamilySearch record for Elizabeth and connected her to already existing profiles on Wikitree for Ephraim and Francis.
