I'm trying to clean these up to ensure that Michael who married Catherine Neff is NOT the Michael who came from Germany. I think the problem here is that too many merges have occurred that were not the same person.
I was in correspondence with a Neff descendant in the mid- to late 1990s who presented to me at the time the basic facts in the Armstrong paper you cite, and I am in agreement with its premise, and would not have intentionally (in 2010) connected her to "Hans Michael Stump." I cannot say, with any certainty as I just do not spend the time on WikiTree I thought at one time I might, whether I unintentionally made the marriage error to "Hans Michael Stump," or whether it was made sometime later.
I haven't checked recently how many versions of Michael Stump there are out there. Between the constant reuse of the name in the family and at least one, maybe two others in the Philly area at the time, I suspect there are a mess of Michael Stump(f) entries on Wikitree that need to be sorted through as part of any fix.
