In a handwritten family lineage by Ebenezer Perkins b Apr 1777, states his grandparents were Ebenezer Perkins and Abigail Bates.
"...My grandfather Perkins whose name was Ebenezer was one of the youngest sixteen sons; married Abigail Bates for his wife and settled in the world a farmer in the State of Rhode Island County of Providence town of Coventry, he had eight children by his wife Abigail four sons and four daughters. Their names were John, Francis, William, and Ebenezer. His daughter's names were Mary, Martha, Harriet and Abigail...."[3]
It is also mentioned in the journal that Ebenezer and his wife Abigail sold their property in Rhode Island and moved to Sandgate, Vermont. Abigail died in the year 1800 and Ebenezer died in 1802. [3]No records of their deaths have been found.
Research Note
The image of their marriage record at [4] was transcribed as "Bates", with father named as Francis. This transcription has likely also been misinterpreted to be "Pratt".
The name Bates is also used as her maiden name in her grandson, Ebenezer's journal. [3]
