DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Fannie by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Fannie:
I've got a list of children born to Coleman Clayton and Fannie from 1770-1786 from the book Person County Heritage - North Carolina Volume III. Coleman's birth date of 1740 comes from there. My conclusion from this is that these children were born to Fannie, and after she died, Coleman married Jane Layton. Coleman and Jane have a son Robert named as Coleman's heir. There appear to be irregularities with Jane's marriage. Court Clerk William T. Perry claimed Coleman and Jane married in 1793. It is possible this was a fabrication to legitimize Robert and they actually never married until 1820. I am not sure who Coleman's ancestors are...perhaps the given father John was actually a brother? Some people seem to believe that Fannie's maiden name was Clayton.
