Mary Gutsoll alleged wife of New England immigrant John May is a case of mistaken identity.
It is said they married 30 Jan 1603 in Burwash, Sussex, England.
There is, however, a marriage between a John May and Martha (not Mary) in Burwash on 30 Jan 1603[1]
This is clearly a case of mistaken identity.
Since she was not the wife of John May, an alleged unknown burial, in 1651, at Find A Grave does not belong to her.[2]
Martha married John May on 30 January 1603 in Burwash, Sussex, England.[3] It appears that name should be Martha rather than Mary.
